WHAT TO SEE
1_ Rudkhan Fortress is the name of a castle belonging to the Sassanid Empire, which is located on the forested heights of Fooman city in Gilan province and has an area of 2.6 hectares and 65 fortifications and a wall with a length of 1500 meters. It has a defensive use. The mountainous and forested areas of northern Iran were completely occupied about 3 centuries later due to the unknown and difficult region compared to the flat and scorching deserts of the Arab regions.
2_ GILAN RURAL HERITAGE MUSEUM
One of the most different museums in Iran is the Gilan Rural Heritage Museum, which is located in the Captain Rasht Forest Park. This museum is set up in the open air and on an area of about 260 hectares, as if you are entering a large village; A village in the middle of beautiful nature, where every house has a different color and smell. You can see the traditional houses with the unique architecture of the plain areas, which are between 100 and 250 years old, and exactly all the components have been transferred to this museum one by one. You can also get acquainted with the traditional clothing and accessories of the people of Gilan and see the cooking process of the traditional food of Gilan, which is called the food capital of Iran. This museum can be considered the first museum of its kind in the Middle East; Where he has won several awards and certificates from national and international institutions.
3_ Masouleh
steppe village of Iran is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Gilan province and one of the most famous examples of steppe architecture in the world. Of course, there are other stepped villages in Iran, such as the villages of Saragha Seyed and Oraman in the west of the country. Masouleh is a place that according to historical sources, is about 800 to 1000 years old and is also a place where you can see the best natural landscapes of Iran. The steppe village of Masouleh is located on the forest slopes of Alborz at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level. One of the interesting features of Masouleh is the difference in height from the lowest point to the highest point. Due to the stepped nature of this village, there is a height difference of about 120 meters between its lowest and highest points, and the stepped architecture of Masouleh houses is the most significant feature of this village, which is also world-famous. The roof of every house is the yard of a neighbor’s house.
4_ ANZALI INTERNATIONAL WETLAND
Anzali Wetland with an area of about 20,000 hectares is located in northern Iran in Gilan province. Anzali Lagoon is one of the best natural habitats for animals in Iran due to its migration route and every year it receives a large number of birds that migrate to Iran from the north, especially from the Siberian plains. Anzali Wetland is not comparable to any of the wetlands in Iran due to its high geographical location in terms of high humidity and water.
