3_AZERI PEOPLE OF IRAN
Iranian Azeris Indigenous Azeri population of Iran, the second largest ethnic group in Iran after Persian-speakers with a population of about 11 million, the largest Turkic-speaking ethnic group in the northwestern corner of Iran in the northwestern part of the Caspian Sea to Lake Urmia. Their first language is Azerbaijani Turkish, which has a structure similar to Istanbul Turkish but with a different accent. Half of the Azeris are urbanites, the largest cities of which are Tabriz, Urmia, Ardabil, Zanjan, Khoy and Maragheh, respectively. In addition, they include about a quarter of the population of Tehran. Azeris are a significant minority in cities such as Hamedan and Qazvin. And live in Karaj.
